About Jerry Olson

Jerry C. Olson, P.L.S., P.E.

Jerry Olson founded OEI in 1968 and was the President from 1968 till 2022. Prior to starting a private practice he was employed as an engineer with the Washington Department of Natural Resources. He earned his master's degree in Forest Engineering at Oregon State University and is a licensed Land Surveyor and Engineer.

Jerry is active in many professional organizations. He is a Member Emeritus and has held leadership positions in both the Washington State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. He is a Fellow of the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping. Jerry was named Surveyor of the Year by the Land Surveyors Association of Washington and has chaired several committees in that organization.

He also is actively involved in local and regional business and community organizations. Jerry is a charter board member of the Clark County Responsible Growth Forum and has served on several task forces for that organization and the Columbia River Economic Development Council. He has been a board member of the Building Industry Association (BIA) of Clark County and received the State and Local Government Affairs Recognition Award from the National Association of Home Builders.

He is the author the book Surveying North of the River, the reference handbook, The First Land Surveyors of Washington, and edited the book, David D. Clarke 1864 - 1920, Narratives of a Surveyor and Engineer in the Pacific Northwest.
