Bill Hagedorn and Jerry Olson’s history together goes back to the OSU Forest Engineering Class of 1962. Both of these men went on to start firms in Clark County that would produce quality surveys across the northwest region. Hagedorn, Inc. was founded by Bill Hagedorn and Bolt Minister in 1969, a year after Jerry Olson established Olson Engineering (OEI). (click on link above to read more)
Over the years they remained friends and friendly competitors, even shared the same office space for a few years in the 1970’s. When Bill retired to Montana several years ago, his family continued the business in Vancouver until they closed its doors in October 2014. Bill recently gave his 71 file cabinets and several flat files to Jerry to keep at Olson Engineering’s new office in the former Sparks Building. The Hagedorn records are available for surveyors to use by appointment.
In addition to the Hagedorn, Inc. records, OEI has in its archives the records of Charles Porterfield, Walter A. Schwartz, Fred M. Lane, John Lawson, Robert Dean, Manford Leiser, Lacy Engineering, Charles Barnard, The Vancouver Housing Authority and War Department, Robert Webster, Dennis Wallace, Lloyd Knight, and the Northern Pacific Railroad Land Examination Department.
